How to care for
your handmade jewellery.
In a few
easy steps you will be able to care for your handmade jewellery and keep it
looking great for years to come.
As with all
jewellery you should always put it on after you have done your hair and makeup.
Hairsprays and makeup powders can dull the lustre of your jewellery and
perfumes can sometimes strip the coating off your beads.
When you are
not wearing your jewellery don’t just throw it in your draw or jewellery box, take
the time to put it in an organza bag (Sparkling Dragon Designs supplies these
with your purchase) or in a clear snap lock bag.
You will thank me when you don’t
have a tangle of necklaces and earrings to fight with the next time you put on
your jewellery.
You should
also remove your jewellery before you go to bed, take a shower or wash the
dishes (hummm.. maybe get a dishwasher or just wear disposable gloves). Now I
am not saying that I am an angel when it comes to this but I really do try as
it is worth the effort not to ruin my jewellery. I defiantly would recommend not
wearing your jewellery whilst swimming or in a spa as the chemicals are harsh
and will do really nasty things to your handmade jewels.
If you are finding
that your gorgeous handmade jewellery is not as lustrous as when you first
bought it you can use a soft cloth (even a face washer) to gently polish the
surface of the beads and gems to restore their sparkle. This is a great
therapeutic thing to do whilst watching your favourite TV show.
